Hopefully everyone
had a wonderful Christmas season, but as December comes to an end, it’s
time to look forward to a great new year. Daylight Lodge will kick it
off to a great start on
Saturday, January 10, with our final discussion and voting on our
by laws. In case you missed it at our November meeting, we had a hearty
discussion on the by laws and it was decided to lay over our final vote
until our January 2009 meeting. If you have any ideas, please forward
them to our new By-Laws committee chairman Brother Jim Wall or bring
them with you to our January meeting.
That’s not all, though, because at the same meeting, we will be hearing
the Fellow Craft proficiency from Brother Michael Grass. If everything
goes as expected, we will be scheduling a Master Mason Degree soon. If
you get to the lodge around
noon, a super lunch will be waiting for you and we will
open lodge at 1:00PM. As
usual, we are expecting a large turnout, so get there early to get a
good seat.
Speaking of large crowds, we had quite an attendance at the Daylight
Lodge installation of officers on December 10. A lot of these were
friends and family, and we were very happy for the opportunity to get
together again. Clarence Daugherty conducted the ceremony as Installing
Officer and Everett Parish acted as Marshal. It was an exceptional
ritual and everyone enjoyed it.
The officers elected and installed are as follows:
Ernie Royal – Master, Bobby Bratcher – Senior Warden, David Masden –
Junior Warden, Chris Holley – Senior Deacon, George Bowman – Junior
Deacon, Joe England – Tiler, Jeff Fitzpatrick – Secretary, Don Dunlap –
Treasurer, and Jim Thompson was elected as Trustee. Also appointed and
installed were Clyde Bowman – Senior Steward, Jim Frazier – Junior
Steward, and Ron Hendricks – Chaplain.
Daylight extends a warm welcome to Ray Horn and Gerald Meeks, who were
elected to membership at our last meeting.
We also balloted on two additional petitions for the degrees in
December. Jim Baker, lives in the Hurstbourne area, and is employed by
Scott Gross Company. Ottis Ison is retired from Marine Ship Builders in
Utica, IN and resides in the Portland area. Both are scheduled for
initiation at our stated February meeting.
Please remember to attend the Officers Association of Jefferson County
meeting on January 29, to elect and install its officers. All Master
Masons are invited to attend at Sunset Lodge Hall. Dinner will be served
at 6:30 and the meeting convened at 7:30.
I still have several 2009 dues cards on my desk. If you don’t have yours
yet, please forward $36.50 to me at 4202 Candor Ave, Louisville, KY,
40216 and I’ll make sure and get it to you. Please call me at
502-449-2409 with any questions.
Don’t forget our monthly breakfast at 9 AM on Monday, January 12 at
Shoney’s Restaurant on Eastern Parkway.
Fraternally,
Jeff Fitzpatrick, PM
